On The Construction Of Local Government Discourse From The Perspective Of Critical Discourse Analysis

The methodology of critical discourse analysis is mainly built upon system-functional linguistics. It specially emphasizes the investigation of life context and social historical backgrounds that can help generate, disseminate and accept the discourse, and the necessity for the main attention to discover and investigate the ideology that exists in discourse but is always ignored for being got used to by people in life, to make it convenient for people make a new review at it.The thesis chooses as research linguistic data the news discourse of print media and the official reply on network to a social event about ethanol gasoline for motor vehicles in Bayan nur City of China’s Inner Mongolian Autonomous Region. By reference Van Dick’s critical discourse analysis theory and Halliday’s research method on system-functional linguistics, the selected corpus was analyzed in a disassembling way. The mode of discourse construction was also explored with which China’s local government delivered the ideology to the public by means of mass media of communication. The discourse utterance and discourse structure were used as the starting point for analysis to reveal how the discourse was superficially controlled by the ideology and how to make full use of linguistic form to express ideology reasonably, thereby to affect the public. Therefore, the government would be able to create a healthy social environment and better serve the development of harmonious society.
