As the main founder of the Chinese Communist Party and the Chinese People’s Liberation Army, as well as the great leader of the People’s Republic of China, Comrade Mao Zedong had a deep bond with archives and archival work in the long-term struggle and nation-building process, and he played a catalytic role in the development of archival undertaking.Through the analysis of specific examples, the research on Mao Zedong’s archival ideology around the founding makes more explicit that he had a close relationship with the archival work in his learning, living and working. He gradually made clear of archival value, and paid more attention to the collection, collation, custody and use of files and archives. Meanwhile, to ensure the smooth development of archival work, he never forgot the education and training of the archivists. Throughout the development and evolution of Mao Zedong’s archival thought, it is not difficult to find that the cause and change of his archival thought is closely related with the era and social background, which are affected by four factors, including the career development needs of the Party, the national development needs, the struggle needs against the enemy and the personal growth experience.Based on the contribution to the archival undertaking made by Mao Zedong, it shows that his view of archives not only has far-reaching historical significance, but also the reference to current archival work and a strong practical impact. Thereby, take this to play typical role in common, in order to enhance the public awareness of archives, and promote the further development of archival theory and archival work.
