Identification friend or foe (IFF) indicates to identify the target property of friend orfoe. Modern battlefield environment is complex and volatile, and the cooperativeengagement of multinational and multi-branch forces puts forward higher requirementsfor IFF. Mark XIIA is one of the commissioned IFF systems in the United States.Compared with its historical versions, Mark XIIA system not only has the traditionalinterrogation/response mode, but also increases situational awareness, inquiry aboutlocation and data transmission mode which can be applied in a variety of domains,including air-to-air, air-to-sea, ship-to-air, ground-to-air, ground-to-ground and so on.Information counter technology of IFF system is an important research topic inelectronic warfare, which plays a crucial role in modern warfare. For the specific systemtargeted interference performs better than blind interference. In order to improve theperformance of jammer used for the Mark XIIA system, it is necessary to analyze theanti-jamming performance of Mark XIIA system. On the other hand, the research fornew IFF system can learn from the Mark XIIA technological superiority and improve itsinherent deficiencies, it also need to ascertain the performance of the Mark XIIA system.However, the study of existing papers on Mark XIIA system stays in the level ofintroductory with little research on the anti-jamming performance of the Mode5link.This paper analyzes the anti-jamming performance of the Mark XIIA’s Mode5Level1/Level2interrogation link and develops simulation platform of Mark XIIA using C/C++language. The main research of this thesis includes the following aspects.Firstly, analyze the anti-jamming performance of Mark XIIA system Mode5Level1/Level2interrogation link. For Mark XIIA system, deception jamming is not feasiblewhile occupy response and sidelobe suppression interference is ineffective. It isnecessary to study the performance of Mark XIIA with jamming. This thesis studies theperformance of Mark XIIA system Mode5Level1/Level2interrogation link underAWGN, partial band jamming and repeater jamming with simulation verification.Secondly, design the overall architecture of the Mark XIIA IFF simulation software.Firstly, propose Mark XIIA simulation requirements on functionality and performance.Secondly, design the system architecture of the Mark XIIA simulation software anddivide levels and modules by function.Finally, complete and test the Mark XIIA IFF system. This paper develops MarkXIIA IFF system simulation platform using C/C++language. Meanwhile, test cases aredesigned for software testing.This paper analyzes the Mark XIIA IFF system while focusing on the performance ofMode5Level1/Level2interrogation link under jamming. The analysis is verified bysimulation. It can guide the following study about IFF system. In addition, the paperdevelops simulation platform of Mark XIIA IFF system. The platform reserves extensive interfaces, on which engineers not only can simulate electronic warfaresystems and evaluate the performance of jammer, but also develop IFF prototypes andspecific jammers.
