In recent years, with the diversity of services and the emerging of on-demand userapplications, the bandwidth of access network is aggressively upgraded in severalorders of magnitude. Meanwhile, as the capacity and the number of users increasing, more and more services need to be converged and exchanged in metropolitan areanetwork (MAN). Therefore, the access capacity of MAN will be exhausted very soondue to its limited throughput. In addition, the separation of metro and access networkresults in complicated infrastructure construction and large consume of networkresources, thus, the Capital Expenditure (CapEx) and Operational Expenditure (OpEx)become very expensive. This paper is aims at the studying of problems mentioned above, regarding thearchitectures of metro-access integrated network as the main research object. Afterin-depth analysis of the basic theory and key technologies of metro-access integratednetwork, we discussed and studied the structure design of it, a novel metro-accessintegrated network based on OFDMA is proposed. The main contents of this thesis areas follows:1. The principle of the integration for metro and access network is analyzed andstudied. A novel metro-access integrated network based on OFDMA is proposed, theintegration is based on the interconnection of an OFDMA single-fiber ring and multipleOFDMA access trees, and the orthogonal sub-carriers are used to realize parallel datatransmission and dynamic resource allocation.2. The principle of switching and routing in the OFDM system is analyzed andstudied. A polarization multiplexed OFDM sub-bands interleaving enabled ROADMwhich realizes the add/drop function in two polarization states, respectively, is proposed. This ROADM is suitable for OFDM system, it can reduce the requirement of deviceslike filters and the sample rate of DAC/ADC.3. A polarization multiplexed OFDM sub-bands interleaving enabled metro-accessintegrated network which employ the novel ROADM is presented. The signals fordownstream and upstream transmission are processed in two orthogonal polarization, respectively. This network structure improved the spectrum efficiency of the system andreduced the requirement of network elements like filters. Finally, system simulations were performed through MATLAB and VPI todemonstrate the feasibility and the performance of the proposed schemes.
