With the emergence of a variety of new applications in the network, more andmore traffic type appeared. Different types of traffic transmitting in the networks oflimited resources give rise to the need of assessing the importance of traffic. Theresearch of traffic importance assessment methods is becoming a hot issue. At the sametime, how to reasonably allocate resources to variety of applications under the premiseof limited resources, is also an urgent problem. In mobile Ad Hoc networks, the goal ofresource allocation is to meet the user’s needs and optimize the utility of resources asmuch as possible. This means that resource allocation techniques require not onlyachieving the goal of optimal allocation, but also dynamically adjusting the allocation ofresources, in order to adapt to changes of the network environment.This dissertation first introduces the background and current research situation ofthe traffic importance assessment methods and resource allocation, and focuses on adetailed discussion and analysis of the following four aspects:1. Put forward the concept of traffic importance based on traffic priority andproposed a table-based traffic importance assessment method. The two-dimensionaltable of traffic importance integrates both traffic priority and user priority. And thethree-dimensional table includes mission besides the above two. The method cancalculate the value of traffic importance with different traffic priority and user priorityby formula in a short time. Meanwhile the method can also dynamically adjust thescope of the value and the value itself of traffic importance according to the need.2. Proposed a traffic importance based Ad Hoc network bandwidth allocationalgorithm—IABAA (Importance-Based Ad Hoc network Bandwidth AllocationAlgorithm). The algorithm uses the same utility function, different parameters toindicate the importance of different traffic. The target of bandwidth allocation is tomaximize the total utility value of accessing traffic. Heuristic method is used in solvingthe maximum total utility in the above process to obtain a better solution. The algorithmtakes the additional measurement to protect the traffic with high importance.3. Use Java language to preliminary achieve the user interface of assessment traffic importance. The interface embedded the importance evaluation algorithm. And MySQLdatabase is used to store the detail information of accessing traffic and the importancevalue of the traffic.4. In OPNET simulation platform, we implemented the bandwidth allocationalgorithm simulation in Ad Hoc network. Through the analysis of simulation results, thealgorithm can optimize the overall utility value of the traffic in form of guaranteeing thetraffic with a high degree importance.
