With the continued progress of science and technology, multimedia technology is anew technology that combines images, graphics, sound, video, animation,communications and computer technology, it is in many digital representation; With thedevelopment of the network, people on the network transmission of images, graphics,audio, video, animation and other data, required to achieve a satisfactory video andaudio signals for real time processing; As the progress of the aerospace industry,satellite remote sensing imagery and reconnaissance aerial image toward the directionof the high-resolution, digitized, and the huge amount of data that needs real-time returnto the ground. The compression theory plays a vital role, image compression hasbecome a useful development areas of research, the breakthrough of the subject has asignificant contribution to the development of communication, multimedia, aerospace,medical and other fields, especially reconnaissance aerial images compressionengineering applications has become a research focus.In response to these problems, based on JPEG2000still image compression/decompression technology as the main object of study, has launched a comprehensive,in-depth research on image compression based on the combination of theoreticalresearch and engineering practice. The main content of this paper include:1. Through the aerial image characteristics and application environment analysis,based on the JPEG2000compression scheme.2. through the study of ADV212special compression chip data, build high speedprocessing FPGA+ADV212hardware compression platform; using Kakadudecompression algorithm, constructs the reasonable pressure fast visual softwareplatform, through the optimization algorithm, the software has certain adaptive capacity.3. pairs of visible light aerial image compression/decompression simulation testsystem design, performance of the work platform.Finally, the whole system design are summarized, and the future of JPEG2000compression standard research progress.
