Ubiquitous wireless network which can provide various personalized service topeople is not novel, but by adding and extending network capacity and new applicationsbased on current network. Ubiquitous network contains the existing telecommunicationnetwork, internet and some private networks. Ubiquitous network can achieveinterpersonal and human-material communication. However, the precondition to realizesuch communication is a ubiquitous network identification that can distinguish differentpeople and material.Since different networks have their respective identification system, differentnetworks can hardly intercommunicate. For those networks with same identity andlocation identification, when mobile users move different network, identityidentification will change while location identification changing, so they are unable toachieve cross-network mobile communications. For those networks which use identityand location identification separation technology, when mobile users move differentnetwork, identity identification will not change while location identification changing.Location information of opposite terminals are unknown before the establishment ofcommunication, and then, leading to the failure of communication. Therefore, aubiquitous network identification management solution is needed to support thecommunication service for mobile costumers. This paper analyzes the advantages of identification technology of ubiquitousnetwork as well as drawbacks. Based on current network identification technologies, weproposed a global user identification scheme which supports communicationrequirements of mobile costumers in ubiquitous networks. First, we report the model ofglobal user identification of ubiquitous networks, build the relationship betweendifferent network identity systems, and design the global user identification which isindependent of any access networks by using both identity and location identification. After a careful analysis of various existing user ID information storage databasearchitecture, we then propose a hierarchical distributed unified user databasearchitecture that can make global user identification independent of ISP or networks, meanwhile, reduce the pressure and processing delay of large-scale user identificationinformation storage capacity. Finally, we design the identification information updatemechanism to solve the change of identification due to move of users and identityresolution mechanism when communication is established. We built a simulation platform under OPENT, and tested the global useridentification scheme of ubiquitous network. The test results indicate the scheme weproposed can satisfy the communication requirements on function and performance, thus, providing a reference for ubiquitous network development.
