Location technology is one of the most popular field of study.RF communicationsnetworks are often used in the area not covered by satellite signals.Although RFID,WSN, WiFi and some other RF communication networks are ususally used inlocalization, but there are some defects. Because of the advantages about improvingpositioning accuracy and reducing application costs, the research about integration ofRF communication network to get location information has been a hot research topicfor the location technology.After analyzing several RF communication networks and their locationtechnology, this paper presents a RSSI-based inproved localization algorithm. Thisalgorithm didn’t use the traditional methods which using the RSSI to measure thedistance, but used the RSSI to estimate the distance between the mobile node and theanchor node. The graphic constituted by anchor nodes has been divided to smallerareas, and the area in which the mobile node hase been confirmed according to theresult of the estimation about distance will be confirmed in the algorithm.Then,thelocation of the mobile node can be get by calculating the area’s centroid. The locationalgorithm has a low hardware requirement, and can be implemented easier.The resultsof simulation also show it has advatages of positioning accuracy and anti-jamming.On the basis of improved location algorithm, the paper has designed the platform-RF communication network which is used to realize the algorithm. The network is acombination of RFID and WSN.it has a simple topology and can achieve addressablecommunication.some information is also collected by the network.The longestsingle-hop communication distance of the network is630meters. Networksynchronization word, the command sequence number, energy monitoring and control,data anti-collision and some other measures has been used to make a reliable network.Compared with the WSN, the network is easier to network and can save more networkresources. And it is also more secure than RFID. Finally, the improved locationalgorithm designed by this paper, the centroid localization algorithm and the trilateral positioning algorithm based on RSSI ranging have been tested on this platform. Thetest results show that the improved localization algorithm has the advantage inlocalization accuracy, anchor node resource utilization and stability.So it can be widelyused in practical project.
