Spatial spectrum estimation is an important area in array signal processing, whichis widely used in communication, radar and sonar etc. The algorithm of the spacespectrum estimation technique has been very fruitful, increasingly formed a perfecttheory system.With the rapid development of the advent of the information age, the smart antennatechnology will have its broad application prospect, and to provide people with betterinformation convenience. In the complicated information environment, the accuratepositioning of the signal is the key of smart antenna and DOA estimation technologypromoting. If we can realize the accurate DOA estimate to user signal, then it can bringhuge economic and social benefits, also can widely used in public, such as communitymedical, mobile management, intelligent transportation, etc.This paper analysis some spatial spectrum estimation theory and algorithm, and thestudy of the dual channel receiver implementing spatial spectrum estimate directionfinding. The main work is as follows: First, this paper provides the basic assumptions,mathematical model and statistical model of the spatial spectral estimation theory, andbased on the spatial spectral estimation provides some classical algorithms, thesealgorithms including beam-forming algorithm, MUSIC algorithm and ESPRITalgorithm, etc. In the second part of this paper, we did a lot of analysis and researchabout their basic algorithm and the promotion algorithm. Finally, we gives a realizationmethod of dual channel receiver in the spatial spectrum estimation, it is based on thesingle channel receiver theory in the spatial spectrum estimation. The algorithm forestimating the covariance matrix of the array sensor outputs using a weight perturbationtechnique is presented.
