Study On Citation Identity Based Authors Of Disciplines

The citing bahaviour among authors or literature denote a potential attention to the cited object.there is also some regular pattern presented in the long time accumulated citing behaviour.Authors’reference frequency can reflect their academic preference and academic identity. We develop a deeper research based on Citation Identity which was first proposed by the famous information scientist Howard D.White in2001.The Citation Identity is defined as the set of authors that an author cites.By the study of a group of scholars of a discipline,we can find the identity of the group even the identity of the discipline.By the study of Citation Identity we may discover the genre in the field,which can promote scientific communication.Linguistics is a mature social science,crossover studies with other desciplines such as the psychology,sociology,medicine and drawing on the West Linguistics all contribute to the rapid development of linguistics.The paper take the author in the field of linguistics as a sample to mine linguistics experts,periodicals and discover the academic genre from the reference links.First the paper has studied the development of Citation Identity.and overview the current situation based on the authors’ citation research. We believe that the academic genre and academic identity of desciplines can be dig out from the data of author’s citation. We download data from CSSCI,after the downloading and rearrage of the data by our own tools, we come to the Citation Identity of linguistics experts,periodicals.Through statistics of self-reference ratio,singleton ratio and recitation ratio,we analyze the citation characteristics of linguistics.After getting the whole picture of authors’ citation,based on the original cross-citation matrix,by calculating the strength matrix and doing cosine transformation,we arrive at authers’ identification matrix.Multivariate statistical tools such as factor analysis,cluster analysis and visualization methods have been used to discuss the genre of linguistics.we conclude six academic genre,namely,studies of dialects,studies of modern Chinese,grammar research,studies of minority languages and applied linguistics,theoretical linguistics.By compared with authors’ highly cited literature,we prove the division of academic genre is reasonable,Studies have shown that the research in the view of Citation Identity is feasible.The paper study linguistics authors in the view of Citation Identity and research the academic genre with cluster analysis、factor analysis and visualization method,which should be the innovations of the paper. Simultaneously,the validation of the result was given by the list of authors’ highly cited literature,then discuss the whole situation of linguistics.The paper enrich the Citation Theory and can be taken as a example by the study of linguist.
