As information technology continues to develop, the image acquisition and processing technology is more widely used in the national economy in our life. The traditional image acquisition and processing is mostly based on the computer, the computer size and power constraints, image acquisition and processing technology can further popularization and promotion.Information has the intuitive, reliability and other characteristics; image monitoring system has been used more and more widely, such as video conferencing, video telephony, remote monitoring, and intelligent traffic. In order to realize these applications, real-time acquisition and transmission of image data is an important link in. This scheme has system has large volume, high cost, inconvenient carrying and other shortcomings, in the absence of wired network region is difficult to achieve. FPGA based embedded image acquisition and processing system has the advantages of small volume, low cost, high stability, already in the intelligent transportation, computer vision, communication and other fields are widely used.Video image processing system based on FPGA+DSP has the advantages of small volume, low power consumption, extensible, conducive to the realization of a portable design feature, so the use of FPGA+DSP for image acquisition and processing has gradually become a trend. This paper presents a video image processing system based on FPGA+DSP design method, using FPGA as a coprocessor, responsible for image acquisition and image preprocessing work, uses DSP as the main processor for image processing, FPGA and DSP via FIFO video buffer chip for image data transmission.Firstly,the paper shows the whole design scheme of the system,and expounds the hardware chip selection and software design idea.Then, the paper focus on the video image preprocessing algorithm,and the common smoothing techniques were improved,based on a rectangular window median filtering algorithm, simulation results confirm the feasibility, the algorithm have a better use when the image effected by noise, the paper also makes the implementation on FPGA haedware.Finally, the paper researches and improves the algorithm based on discrete cosine transform(DCT),also makes its optimise to DSP use.This paper describes the design of the image acquisition and processing system for FPGA and DSP play their respective advantages, good portability and versatility, used FPGA and DSP to construct an image acquisition and processing system provides some valuable reference.
