Laser is a nonlinear system and it presents chaotic state under the certain condition. The fiber laser is applied comprehensively on secrecy communication, medicine field, and so on, because of its low loss and high gain. It is important signification to investigate chaos behav-ior of Er-doped fiber laser, especially to investigate the synchronization of complex network in which Er-doped fiber laser is taken as node.In the first part, chaos characteristics of the single-ring/dual-ring Er-doped fiber laser are analyzed. The single-ring Er-doped fiber laser is in different chaos states through modulating pump parameters. The phase portrait and the evolvements of state variables with time exhibit evidence difference. The linear stability analysis of the stationary state solution for the dual-ring Er-doped fiber laser is discussed, and the system can change from period-doubling bifurcation to chaos state by adjusting the gain coefficients of arbitrary one ring.In the second part, the chaotic single-ring Er-doped fiber lasers are selected for the nodes of ring network. The adaptive synchronization method is presented to realize synchro-nization of the ring network through the bidirectional coupling. Simultaneously, the chaotic systems of dual-ring Er-doped fiber lasers are selected for the nodes of star network. The synchronization of star network is obtained when the system equation is separated and collo-cated appropriately to linear and nonlinear terms, and the nonlinear term is selected as interior coupling function of the network.The last part is mainly connected with delay synchronization of star network with di-verse structure. The chaotic fiber laser, semiconductor laser and CO2laser are taken as nodes. The numerical simulation result shows that delay synchronization of whole nodes in star net-work is realized based on Lyapunov stability theorem...
