With the ever expanding size, increasingly complex structure, the increasing typesof business of three-layer network, the network has become a comprehensive networkincluding the data, audio and video service. The current performance monitoring toolscan not meet the practical needs because of the lack of consideration of parameter’srelationship, the feature of three-layer network and so on. And there is an urgent needfor an efficient, stable, adaptable performance monitoring system for three-layernetwork to ensure the stability, secure, available and applicable of the three-layernetwork platform, thereby ensuring the efficient and orderly conduct of the work.The current three-layer network performance monitoring system can be improvedin two aspects: firstly, to improve specific performance parameters monitoring methodsaccording to the structural and functional characteristics of the three-layer network;secondly, to compensate for the current performance monitoring system only staterepresentation of network performance monitoring, but not cause defects in the state. Onthe basis of thorough researches of current monitoring method of performanceparameters and network performance monitoring mechanism, the monitoring methodsof network topology, connectivity, delay and delay variation, packet loss rate andDirectional_MDI are proposed in this thesis A Dynamic Feedback MeasurementMechanism for Three-layer Network (DFMM-TN) is proposed then. Ultimately,according to the suggestions for improving the monitoring methods and monitoringmechanisms, a three-layer network performance monitoring system is implemented.According to the clear layer and the controllable node of network, the topologymonitoring and connectivity monitoring methods are simplified to improve runningefficiency; according to the symmetrical routing path of three-layer network, we choosethe round trip delay as the delay and jitter monitoring data, and implement the detectionmechanisms based on the UDP packet to avoid the router (switch)’QoS priority settingfor ICMP packets; Using delay constructed Tag packets to monitor packet loss rate tosolve the problem that the number of packets in the current packet loss rate monitoringmethods may not be inaccurate; Directional_MDI is propose to determine thetransmission quality of streaming media network through DF: MLR: Direction which ismore timely and more accurate.DFMM-TN is proposed in this thesis. In this mechanism the Daemonmeasurements get the basic state of the network. And depending on the basicinformation whether one or several feedback measurements are needed is decided. Ifneeded, the parameters which should be measured and the measurement tools should bechosen automatically. The feedback measurements will get more information to analysis the network state and its origin. We argue that this mechanism can reflect the roots ofnetwork failure and so on. And it can help to orientation the failure devices andmaintain the network in normal state.According to improved monitoring methods for the various performanceparameters and DFMM-TN, the monitoring system including central control node,distributed monitoring nodes and user node is designed and implemented. The mainmodule includes the node deployment, user command execution, monitoring todetermine the configuration, monitoring results to display and monitor data reception,scheduling module, measuring rule set, measuring tool sets, databases, measurementtools loading and various types of standardized configuration and interactive interface.The function of each module and its collaborative working mechanism is indicated, andmeasuring rule set, measuring the dynamic expansion of the toolset and interactiveinterface module is described. And finally, we test the system in the actual campusnetwork environment and analyzed the test data.
