As infrared linear detector imaging technology is one of important ways to getinfrared radiation information, it has has been widely used in aerospace and medicalcare. However, as the length of the detector increases, with the materialnon-uniformity and the impact of technology, the infrared response of detector pixel isnot consistent. At the same time,there maybe some blind pixels in the detector whichwill affect the image scaned by the infrared long linear system. Therefore, it isnecessary to resaerch the non-uniformity correction of infrared long linear detector,aswell as the detection and compensation of blind pixel.An infrared image correction and enhancement system based on FPGA has beendesigned and realized. The software and hardware structure and the FPGA programdesign of the system is introduced.The analysis of the causes of the infrared detectornon-uniformity and blind pixel is given.Through study of the main non-uniformitycorrection and blind pixel correction algorithms,the algorithm that is suitable for thedetectors in this system is proposed, along with the instructions of the correctionsequence of non-uniformity and blind pixel. And it is realized by the hardwaredescription language. Finally, the main methods of infrared image enhancement isintroduced and the research and implementation of median filtering, improvedhistogram equalization are presented.The test results show that the system can realize the infrared long linear detectorimaging and image processing.The renderings of image correction and imageenhancement verifies the correctness of the image correction and enhancementalgorithms,as well as the effectiveness of the program.
