With the development of the network technology and the internet,the information technology is becoming increasingly popular and increasingly large-scale of the networks, the cloud terminal as the client devices as its network has gradually occupied an important position, and became a research applicationhot spot. This thesis proposed a design scheme of cloud terminal system based on a kind of EMBED SKY. TECH’s TQ2440hardware platform and a kind of ARM-Linux software platform, which implements that the cloud terminal logins to a virtual desktop of a remote server and controls and managements the virtual desktop, through the Remote Desktop Protocol(RDP) of the cloud terminal.Firstly, detailedly researching and analysing technologies of the ARM9cloud terminal system, including the ARM embedded microprocessor, the cloud terminal technology and the embedded Linux system, and the thesis achieves the selection of the ARM9cloud terminal system’s core processor, the choice of virtual desktop protocol and operating system.Secondly, through the research of the ARM9cloud terminal system’s hardware platform, we propose the the overall architecture of the hardware platform for the cloud terminal system based on ARM9, afterwards analyse and research the LCD display control of the ARM9cloud terminal systerm. Througn combining with the analysis of the the VGA timing, complete the LCD timing setting in the LCD control register, in order to prepare for LCD driver transplant in the next step when we build the embedded Linux system based on ARM9cloud terminal.Thirdly, build the embedded Linux system based on ARM9cloud terminal. Achieve respectively BootLoader transplant,embedded Linux kernel transplant,the LCD drive transplant in line with the VGA standard specification and establishment of transplantation as well as the root file system based on the boot sequence of the Linux system. On this basis X Window graphical user interface is cut and transplanted, in order to provide the underlying application interface for the implementation of the upper client application software. Finally, based on the analysis of the realization of the function of the ARM9cloud terminal client software, propose design concept of the RDP client software. The data structure of the RDP client software and the two RDP client functional module is implemented, and complete the ARM9cloud terminal client application software’s design. Cross-compiler of the realized Rdesktop application software is ported to the ARM9cloud terminal platform,and is run the system test.
