3D geometric model as the fourth kind of digital media are verysignificant in digital geometry processing applications. especiallyThree dimensional mesh skeleton extraction is attention by theresearchers as one of the highlights in agro-scientific research in thedigital geometry. Skeleton can well represent the topology of the modelinformation and shape information, In addition, that the skeleton as acompression technique of an original model can reflect the graphicstructure information and store the graphic structure information on theaxis of symmetry can reduce the model information storage space andimprove storage space utilization. Now the skeleton extraction technologyis widely used in many fields such as computer animation, patternrecognition and medical visualization and so on.skeleton extraction method which using mesh simplification and meshcontraction is designed in this paper. In order to get the skeletonmodel,at first,we use half-edge collapse algorithm including Shape ofthe cost function Sampling Cost function to get mesh simplification modelwhich has the same number of loops as the number of tunnels in the originalmesh and keep The original topology structure not unbroken. Then usingleast-square method to solve the discrete Laplace equation iterativelyto get the skeleton model based on mesh simplification model.3D model retrieval method based on sketch are proposed, At first we make the similarthree-dimensional model with the same standard coordinate system usingrotation normalization technique to model preprocessing.3D modelretrieval method make use of histogram of oriented gradients to get thefeature extraction of the front view of the skeleton by mapping to twodimensional spaces and adopt Euclidean distance method to similaritycomparison. Finally3D model retrieval system based on skeleton aredeveloped. In this paper, the3d retrieval system not only has thecharacteristics of simple and easy to operate, also has better retrievalperformance and can find similar models on shape and topology structurewell.
