Research And Practice On The Financial BI System Of The Large Power Grid Corporation

With the reform of the power industry in2002, great impacts on the domesticpower industry lead to irreversible trend of marketization. As more reform measuresare taken, great changes of the operating condition of the power industry have takenplace. With the strong and growing development of Chinese economy, the powerindustry will step into a period of great development. Meanwhile, how to raise theenterprise operation efficiency, financial management capacity and strategicoperational level as well as competitive power has become the biggest challenge anddifficulty.The power grid financial management should make most use of the various dataaccumulated during the information construction (including the data of the humanresource, engineering system and marketing system after integration); it shouldestablish unified financial informatization standard and set up a platform for thefinancial data with the help of Business Intelligence; it should realize centralizedmanagement of the financial data; it should establish the business intelligence analysissystem in a macroscopic level, which is designed for financial analysis, businessanalysis, and strategic analysis; it should build the enterprise operation model “basedon value chain"; it should realize integration and conformity in the business flow, theinformation flow, and the management flow; it should realize the so-called"control-comes-first" management method in order to improve the power gridcompany’s financial management and decision-making ability for the sake of itscorporate, social and economic benefits, as well as the image of its own.This paper is about the application of Business Intelligence in the financialsystem of any large power grid corporation. First, it talks about the background, thepurpose and the significance of Business Intelligence. Second, it introduces the basicconception of Business Intelligence and several popular types of the vendor systemarchitecture in the market. Third, the article illustrates the business environment andthe market demand for the power grid financial system, and explains the planning idea,the goal and the solution for building the business function framework. And then,from the perspective of designing the structure of the platform, the specific design and the best practice of Business Intelligence in each frame layer of the power gridfinancial system have also been fully described. This paper covers such scheme layersof BI as data acquisition layer, information integrated layer, application analysis layerand information interaction layer, etc., and it also has well planned and considered thesystem management of the whole project and the safety aspects of ETL data. Finally,a summary of the successful implementation of BI in power grid financial system hasbeen made in the end.
