The high-quality microwave source is the basis of all microwave applications.Microwave source is the most basic and central part of a variety of weapons systemsas well as electronic equipment, and its performance directly affects the systemperformance of a variety of electronic equipment and microwave systems. With thewide application of satellite communications, radar and other microwave systems, thedemand for high-performance microwave source is greatly promoted.As fortraditional microwave source technology, there is often a poor noise performancewhen the high-frequency signal (in particular, the millimeter-wave band) is generated.In this paper, a microwave source based optoelectronic oscillator is proposed, whichoutput frequency is not limited, and has a good noise performance.The microwave source presented in this paper, based on the optoelectronic oscillator,is achieved through the structures of the opto-electronic hybrid resonator microwavesignal generation. The basic principles and structure of the optoelectronic oscillator(OEO) is theoretically analyzed, and corresponding solutions for OEO output signalof the side mode suppression and stability is innovatively proposed. Usingpolarization beam splitter and combiner to build optical domain dual-loop OEO toachieve side-mode suppression; the cavity length control module based on thedetection of frequency variation of the output signal to control the length of the fiberloop is designed to improve the stability of the output signal.The feasibility and superiority based the OEO microwave source is proved throughbuilding the system structures and experiment. Experimental results show that afrequency of about20GHz microwave signal of the output and quality of themicrowave source, its high spectral purity, the line-width of less than1Hz, the phasenoise is-112dBc/Hz@10KHz, but the stability of the frequency in the period of4hours up to10-4ppm.The structure OEO-based microwave source is simple, which output signal has highstability, high spectral purity and low phase noise, and it has a very broad applicationprospects.
