CO2laser is widely applicated in great amount of fields, because it has many unique properties. In order to improve the utilization efficiency of the laser output beam, it’s necessary for further analysis of its output beam. And we can use optical devices, such as infrared hollow fiber, ZnSe focusing lens system.First of all, this paper introduces the application of CO2laser and analysis the characteristics of CO2laser. Then it provids theoretical basis for the beam coupling and the transmission property of the fiber.Secondly, we give the brief definition and classification of the infrared hollow fiber. Then, we discuss the design of coupling system. We also analyze the transmission characteristics of the optical fiber. Experiments were carried out to research the qualities of laser beam such as energy, laser mode, divergence angle, bending loss and so on. We get relevant data and conclusions.Thirdly, we do some optimization designs of optical fiber laser, means design of lens. The design is based on the theory of geometrical optics and using Zemax software to optimize the lens design to achieve high energy and smaller focusing spot. In this way, we can make better use of laser in machining, medical technology, military, and various aspects in our daily life.Finally, we do some experiments to verify the design we get the energy diagram and spot size diagram of the single lens, dual lens and four-lens.by Matlab and Photoshop. Through the comparison of various parameters,we know the focusing effect of the four lens focusing system is the best. Because the two front lenses correction the beam collimation and compressed the beam divergence angle, making the emergent light close to the parallel light. Besides, the two follow-up dual lens reduce the aberration, so the four-lens system is the best. Experiments show that focusing the output fiber laser can greatly improve the utilization efficiency of the laser.
