With deepening human exploration and development of the marine, underwatercommunication needs are more urgent. Underwater communication is also no onlyused in military applications, but also began to play an active role in the civiliansphere. Currently,underwater communication technology toward the direction of thedevelopment of high-speed and high-capacity. Soft-defined radio based high-speeddigital signal processing chip in the field of modern communications technology hasrapidly emerged as the future direction of development of communication technology.In the above context, in order to design and implement the high-speed underwatercommunication system,this paper did the following works:Firstly, paper made a brief analysis for the basic characteristics of underwatercommunication. Analysis and comparison of the common modulation anddemodulation method. After comparison, selection using high spectrum efficiency16-QAM modulation, and In-depth research for16QAM signal characteristics andmodulation demodulation method. For the key technology of signal demodulationdone in-depth research and analysis, determine the way suitable for software radioimplementation of demodulation algorithm.Secondly, according to the characteristics of the system and to meet therequirements of real time, chose to TI company’s digital signal processing chipTMS320VC5509A and TLV320AIC23voice processing chip as the core of thehardware platform. Main part of the hardware platform is introduced in detail.Thirdly, TI’s DSP integrated development environment Coder Composer Studio(CCS) and Chip Support Library Chip Support Library (CSL) is introduced in detailAccording to have choice of timing synchronization and carrier synchronizationscheme, software phase-locked loop as the core to complete the16QAM signalmodulation and demodulation of the software application development. To take up processor time excessive subfunction use TI provide digital signal processing libraries(DSPLIB) on the part of the program is optimized.Finally, communication system to complete the original rational communicationexperiment, part of experiment in the pool is made. Experiments proved that thesystem hardware and software work stable normal, preliminary communicationexperiment was carried out to the target.
