Textbooks reflect curriculum objectives. Their adaptation and revision are one of the main points of the curriculum reformation. The modernization of high school biology textbooks is an important aspect of the development of curriculum change. To study the changes in the modernization of high school biology textbooks is beneficial for clearer understanding of the development of textbooks. And it is helpful to understand the selection and laws of change in the content modernization of textbooks. Moreover, it provides reference and basis for high school biology textbooks to compile the textbooks and deepen the curriculum reformation, which is of certain practical significance.This article selects high school biology textbooks of PEP from the reform and opening up as the research sample. According to the stage of the textbook, it can be divided into two periods, before the new curriculum reform and the new curriculum reform period. The author adopts Historical Literature Method, Statistical Analysis Method and Comparison Method, to study the modernization Transition of high school biology textbooks. This research counts and analyzes the modernization changes over the past30years for high school biology textbooks of PEP from three dimensions, reflecting the relations among science, technology and society, reflecting the main development direction of modern Life Science and focusing on the scientific method of education. Studies have shown that:The content reflection degree of relations among science, technology and social knowledge in high school biology textbooks of PEP is increasing over the past30years. Besides, the content and the way of their presentation have increased significantly, comparing the period of the new curriculum reformation with the period before it, especially in high school biology textbook of2004, whose contents in science, technology and social relations are the most and the presentation ways diversifies. Reflection of the related content of the scientific, technical and social ties in textbooks helps students to understand and concern the relations among science, technology and society. In addition, it contributes to improve students’ bioscience literacy, conforming to the requirements of basic education reform in21st century.For30years, the high school biology textbooks published by PEP can basically reflect the developmental direction of modern Life Science. The changed orbit of content of molecules, cytology, genetics, hormonal and neural biology is consistent with the major trends of modern life sciences. But before the period of the new curriculum reformation, biotechnology and immunology in high school biology was a blank area, until the2003version and the2004version of high school biology textbooks in the period of the new curriculum reformation, they began to be reflected, this is a problem worth exploring.For30years, more and more attention has been paid to the scientific method education by biology textbooks of PEP for high schools. The category of scientific method significantly increases, comparing the period of the new curriculum reformation with the period before it, which means that the scientific method education in the new century has been paid more and more attention by people, especially the version of2004, which has reached the highest level of attention. Obviously, in the new century, education no longer concerns only on the pure knowledge teaching. It pays more and more attention to the cultivation of student’s various abilities and the scientific attitude, and the understanding of the process of scientific research and the essence of science.In addition, the author puts forward relevant suggestions according to the problems found in the study. Also, the author probes into the influence of two factors, the development of Life Science and the development of high school biology curriculum in our country, on the change of content modernization in biology textbooks for high schools over the past30years.
