According to the survey data analysis, the opinion "to research and make full use of piano grading test materials, to actually practice the fourth and the fifth fingers " from several aspects such as "Thought and understanding"、"Teaching material research"、"Analysis of problems" and "teaching methodologies and strategies". Additionally, this paper expounds how to make full use of teaching material and to resolve the playing problem of the fourth and the fifth fingers. This paper uses the piano grading test materials as references, which are compiled by Chinese Musicians Association、Central Conservatory of Music and Shanghai Conservatory of Music, gives a sketch of the guiding theory and make a comparison about the characteristics of the piano grading test materials, then proposes an opinion as setting goals through piano pieces. Due to the numerous number of piano masterpieces, what different test materials contain are different, though the goals of practice through different test material are the same, the stage of goals are different. It is targeted at some specific piano pieces in the test materials, regarding to the problems what students are facing during learning piano, especially the outstanding problems of playing by the fourth and the fifth fingers. This paper analyzes what lie behind the problem and give a effective solution.Resolving the problem of playing by the fourth and the fifth fingers, which seems technical, have close relation to thought and understanding. This paper places extra emphasis on several problems about playing techniques combined with rules of test material, starts with "improvement of playing techniques of the fourth and the fifth fingers", uses classic pieces as references, analyzes the teaching problem from shallow to deep as well as give feasible suggestions in order to improve playing ability of younger students. Thus a teaching strategy has been summarized as:following in proper sequence, being stick to it, taking time and doing it right, making use of what has been learned, listening and recognition, performing in stage, and so on.Whether piano pieces can be perfectly played is the sole criterion for testing whether or not the problem concerning to playing techniques has been settled. Stage playing is a comprehensive testing for learning outcome, as well as the important way to improve playing level. After resolving the problem of playing by the fourth and fifth fingers, the two fingers should be "forgot", that means performers should be physically and mentally dedicated in what they are playing other than thinking about any techniques. Driven by stage performance, younger students can strengthen their memory power and the skills of performing at sight through remember the lines of piano pieces. Apart from that, students can learn and improve themselves by interactive communication during preparation and enjoying performance. To understand what a musical piece expresses, theory learning should be taken attention. The specific learning content about improving students’appreciation of art includes understanding about musicians’s life experiences, getting knowledge respecting to composing harmony、pieces’s images and styles, and broadening horizon. Gradually students would master in the "basic grammar of piano language", and have more accurate perception of what roles do the pitch、speed、 rhythm、meter、phrase and other musical elements play in expressing the musical theme. Therefore the musical perception and musical expression would be improved. In brief, To improve students’playing technique, teachers are required to strengthen piano technical training, as well as learning continually, understanding the guiding theory of piano grading test material. With Scientific training and improving musical accomplishment, theory could be combined with practices.
