Now China has entered the aging society, combined with large base of the rural population and the faster growing of population number which make the aging is more serious; addition, with the accelerated process of urbanization, China’s rural migrant workers living and gradually increasing in rural areas will face aging and more serious empty nest. To empty nesters of rural families, because of its migrant children, intergenerational relationships embodied in the form of more specific, which makes this special group is faced with a large number of difficulties whether in terms of economic support or cares in everyday life and spiritual aspects of life.This paper reviews about empty nesters and intergenerational relations literature at home and abroad and preliminarily describes the pension situation of empty nesters in the L village from the intergenerational relations perspective which is based on the dates of interviews and observations and the reality of the rural. The author gives a discussion on intergenerational relations what cause the pension problem through Exchange Theory and Altruism Theory, drawing the follow conclusions:First, the contemporary situation of rural migrant children to empty nesters support is not optimistic. Longitudinal intergenerational endowment support has not become empty nesters major pension support, lateral spouse intergenerational relationships intergenerational relationships become the main aspect of empty nesters’pension, and intergenerational supports between children and parents are imbalanced. Second, the causes of such situation is different intergenerational logical between the children and their parents. Children "exchange" logic gradually replaced the traditional "altruism" logical, using rational exchange to deal with intergenerational support between parents; parents initiatively reduce and give up "dependents" of rights under the "altruism" logic, some parents even take on more responsibilities and obligations for their children.According to the conclusions of the research, the author put forward to related suggestions: in the family, we should regulate intergenerational relationships to promoting the harmonious development of intergenerational relationships; in society, we should pay attention to the role of community and government to improving the lives of older empty nesters by an external force.
