With the continuous development of computer technology, modern means of education are constantly integrated into traditional teaching process. Computer aided instruction(CAI) has become an important content of the application of modern educational technology in the actual teaching. CAI is not only an effective method to change the traditional way of education and cultivate innovative talents, but also an effective way to accelerate in-depth development of educational informationiation.Geometry is an ancient and evergreen branch of mathematics. Now, geometric knowledge has permeated in all grades of mathematics in elementary school, playing an increasingly important role in elementary mathematics education. Because of the abstraction of geometric concept and cognitive characteristics of pupils, the students in elementary school find it hard to imagine the relationship among geometric shapes. Accordingly, they often have some difficulties when they are learning the knowledge of geometry. Currently, there are many softwares for geometry teaching at home and abroad, most of which involve plane geometry knowledge, and only a few of which has relevant features of three-dimensional(3D) geometry. Unfortunately, these softwares are mainly for middle school or high school geometry teaching, they can not meet the actual needs of elementary geometry teaching in China.In view of the present situation that there has not yet a supporting tool specifically for elementary geometry education, this paper carried on an in-depth research on the core mechanisms and key technologies of the supporting tool for elementary geometry teaching, and based on which, a geometric teaching supporting tool for the teaching of elementary geometry was designed and developed.The main contents of this paper include:1. The related education theoretical basis of the development of primary geometry teaching supporting tool was expounded, and the WPF framework and theoretical basis of3D graphics that used in the system design was described;2. The key technologies and core mechanisms such as relationship judgments between the geometries, implementation mechanisms for the mouse to select geometry, intelligent drawing mechanism, geometric construction mechanisms and measurement functions were analyzed and studied; 3. The implementation process of3D geometries was analyzed, and the triangulation and3D graphics rendering mechanism was emphatically introduced and analyzed;4. The functional requirements and overall framework of the system was introduced, the process of implementation of several important classes of the system was described, and several major functions of the system were demonstrated.This paper is an in-depth research and study to the integration of the information technology with elementary geometry teaching, hoping to provide some references for the development of similar subject tools.
