Formative evaluation is one of the new curriculum evaluation methods advocated.Formative assessment is helpful for students’ development.The reseach and usingof formative assessment in the field of chemical industry is rare. Especially the examples of instance research is much less. This article reseaches the specific implementation of formative assessment about basic chemical concepts which is based on the study of connotation and function of formative assessment abaut basic chemical concepts.The reseach is Represented by "amount of substance","ionic reaction","redox reaction" several basic chemical concepts.The object of this study is the student who from ChangJun middle sc-hool. Formative assessment was carried out on the experimental classes, and Conventional evaluation was carried out on control class. The concr-ete implementation plan of the formative assessment is to determine the content of the formative assessment,to prepare the corresponding questi-onnaire, to understand the student real learning situation, to feedback the information to the teachers and students in time, to correct the students’ study purposefully,to guide teachers’ teaching,and to realize the functi-on of formative assessment.This study carried formative assessment out on three examples.,including the "amount of substance","ion reactions" and "the redox reaction". The results show that implement formative assessment will help students to learn. The results show that questionnai-reof formative assessment can feedback students knowledge infonnation effectively, teachers know more about students’ learning situation and th-eir teaching effect by the information which is feedbacked and can adjust their teaching, the students can learn to assess themselves effectively and improve their learning, the formative assessment can exert students’ subj-ective initiative and realize the function of formative assessment. This st-udy also provides the empirical research for how to implement the ch-emical concept fonnative assessment, supplement the deficiency of the existing research and enrich the research contents of formative assessme-nt.
