Problems And Countermeasures: The Students From Single-parent Families Of Higher Vocational College

Students from single-parent families has increasing proportion in China, this issueis closely related to the development of social economy and people’s mode of thinkingand it has become a general social problem. Students from single-parent families havea variety of behaviors and are more likely to have psychological problems. It hasbecome an important issue that educators must face to. They are sensitive and fragile,arrogant and self-contemptuous. It is difficult for them to develop mutual trustbetween teachers and students. Generally the students in vocational college arerelatively poor in college entrance examination, overall quality and self-disciplinethat increase the difficulties to educate the students in higher vocational college.This paper focuses on the vocational college students from single-parent families.It is expected to provide some reference for the education of higher vocational collegestudents from single-parent families. This paper analyzes the classification, mainfeatures and the current situation of single-parent families. The author dividesstudents from single-parent families into5categories, self-contemptuous,undisciplined, rebellious, overbearing and jealous. They have no clear learningobjectives, no complete career planning, lack suitable stress reaction, lack right valuefor love and marriage and lack necessary social responsibility, etc. The causes ofthese problems come from the students, the families, the schools and the society.Aiming at these causes and problems, this paper proposes to strengthen theimportance of humanism, process and self-education principle, aspiration-kindlingand thanksgiving education for students from single-parent families. It is expected toguide students to make proper judgment and right choices. It is also expected to forgea blue sky where the students can grow faster and better through the suitable treatmentof actual problems, interaction between schools and families, research and survey,guide public opinion, leading and demonstration, etc.
