At present, Chinese is a second foreign language optional subject in high school inSouth Korea. Most students will begin their Chinese learning on High schoolsophomore. They will keep learning one to two years. Because Chinese is not one ofcollege entrance examination test subjects, students donnot pay much attention to it.Lots of students are not interested in it,which has affected the quality of Chineseteaching adversely. The thesis aims to know what the students are interested in,so thatteachers could adjust their way of teaching in order to stimulate students’ interest inChinese learning and to improve the quality of teaching,in addition,to spread Chineseculture.I gathered information about what kind of Chinese class that Korean high schoolstudents are interested in, using the questionnaire on students in Onyang High Schoolin South Korea. Based on the analysis of the survey results and combined with myteaching experience in Onyang High School, I put forward some feasible suggestions.This thesis consists of four chapters,In the first part,I introduce the purpose and significance of this topic and the relatedresearch in improving students’ interest in learning Chinese. In addition, I introducethe related research I did for the paper.In the second part, I introduce the content of the questionnaire, and the purposeunder every question. The questionnaire includes three sections:Whether you areinterested in Chinese class;What kind of content you want to know in class;What kindof teaching method you like.Besides,I try to give some suggestions on the problemsin teaching process.In the third part,I show the result of the survey and analysis it. We find thatwhether students are interested in Chinese and the reason,students’favourite contentand teaching method.Besides, I provided some solutions.In the fourth part,I propose teaching strategies to improve Korean high schoolstudents’interest in learning Chinese.that is adding the cultural introduction and applyinteresting teaching methods. I introduce where can we find the additional culture content and the interesting teaching methods in Korean high school.fand the teachingstrategies used in Korean high school Chinese classroom are introduced in this paper.
