| With the raising of "sustainable development", environmental educa-tion has attracted more and more attention around the world.Environmen-tal education is considered to be an important way to improve the aware-ness of environmental protection, the ability to solve environmental problems. Also, environmental education can help to achieve sustainable development fundamentally, namely "Environmental protection, education-oriented".Nowadays, the high school students, who has much stress in their study and has little time but eager to practice. So how can we develop their environmental awareness in this critical period?Changsha and its surrounding have many wetlands in Hunan province. Wetland ecology is closely related to the life of local people, but now the wetland are facing some serious environmental problems, such as the reduction of wetland area, water pollution, biodiversity loss etc.After understanding the status and characteristics of environmental consciousness of high school students in Changsha, we can develop a localschool-based curriculum of environmental education by making full use of local curriculum resources.This would help to improve the environmental consciousness of high school students, and it also has a long-term, effect on the protection of local wetland ecology.The methods used in this study are mainly literature analysis and questionnaire investigation. It includes three aspects:(1)we summarize the concept, historical development and research status of environmental awareness and environmental education on the basis of consulting and analysing a large number of relevant literature;(2), the investigation of high school students’environmental awareness.We first compiled a questionnaire, which include the basic information of student, environ-mental knowledge, environmental behavior, awareness of environmental protection and evaluation and the view of environmental education. Then we began our investigation. Students from four different levels of senior high school in Changsha were selected randomly to know their environm-ental awareness.(3) Finally we try to develop a school-based curriculum of environmental education.Based on the summary of domestic and inter-national relevant research in environmental education and school-based curriculum theory and the experience gained in the practical exploration, we try to permeat environmental education into school-based curriculum, and expound the organization mode and development process of the curriculum, Then we take "wetland ecological protection of Changsha " as an example to illustrate the process of development this school-based curriculum. We also show the new methods of environmental education in teaching cases. |
