Moral character is the main channel of ideological and moral education in junior high school students, which bears the important task of systematically ideological and moral education to junior middle school students. It plays an irreplaceable role in forming the healthy personality and good behavioral habits for junior high school students. With the spirit of the CPC central committee, which aims to strengthen the construction of youth ideological and moral file, as well as the common efforts made by the large number of political lesson teachers, great achievements have been made by junior middle school thought moral lessons, which have successfully cultivated the good personal characters among junior high school students. But there is no doubt that, due to various reasons, many problems still exist in junior middle school thought moral education in the aspect of teaching concept, teaching content, teaching methods, which cannot meet the needs of social development and the development of junior middle school students. Thus, it has become an important theoretical and practical issue to take concrete measures to solve these problems in order to strengthen and improve the ideological and moral teaching in junior high school.In this paper, this subject has carried on an in-depth discussion from one aspect. In addition to the introduction, the full text is divided into three parts:the first part analyzes the main current problems in urban junior middle school thought moral education. The author believes that main problems which appears in the urban city junior middle school thought moral education are:some schools and teachers’ teaching concept errors; The teaching content lag, which is not closely connected with the daily life; tedious teaching methods, improper use of teaching means; improper development and utilization of curriculum resources. The second part explores the causes of urban junior middle school thought moral education problem. The author believes that the current junior middle school thought moral teaching problems mainly include:not enough attention to the moral character teaching, the low comprehensive quality of some teachers, unscientific moral character teaching assessment, the negative influence of adverse factors of social transition. The third part puts forward the effective measures to solve the problem of junior middle school thought moral education with the purpose of strengthening and improving the teaching quality of junior middle school thought moral counter; setting up the new teaching concept; improving the comprehensive quality of teachers of moral character; strengthening the ideological and moral curriculum resources integration and application with appropriate teaching methods; establishing scientific evaluation mechanism as well as creating a good environment for the moral character of teaching.
