In the early twenty-first Century, China began a new round of curriculum reform, whichtook the emotion, attitude, and value as the curriculum goal into the “course standard”. Thisreform, together with “knowledge and ability”,“process and method”, constitutes the newcurriculum goal system, and has been applied into each subject of high school curriculum.The teaching philosophy reflected by the new curriculum reform is people-oriented, payingattention to train students’ ability of lifelong learning and lifelong development. On the otherhand, the nature of middle school ideological and political classes is just to put emphasis onthe contemporary social development and the growth of middle school students, and tocultivate students’ emotional attitude and values. Therefore, the middle school politicsteaching has the advantage of cultivating students’ positive emotions, the correct attitudes andcore values by nature. The education of emotion, attitude and value becomes the top priorityin the middle school politics teaching, and its success has a close relationship with the healthygrowth of the students. It is not only the most challenging aspect of the teaching innovation,but also the most important step to carry out the quality education. Therefore, among theobjectives of classroom teaching, the emotion, attitude, and value should be presented as themost important aspect of the three-dimensional goals.The essence of emotion, attitude, and value education is to cultivate all-rounddevelopment of students, which is an important goal of the quality education in the new era.“The ordinary high school ideological and political course standard (Experiment)” defines theeducation objective of emotion, attitude, and value as follows: possessing the ability andattitude of independence, self-reliance, and self-improvement in modern social life; having thefeelings of patriotism, collectivism and socialist; having the initial formation of a correctworld outlook, philosophy of life and values. But influenced by the characteristics of middleschool students’ psychological development and the characteristics of political education, aswell as the status of political teaching in middle school education, it is not hard to discoverthat the goal of value education is difficult to implement in practice, and has the very bigdisparity with the objectives of the new curriculum reform. The disparity can be mainlyreflected as the following aspects: teacher’s insufficient understanding of three-dimensional goals; no easy to handle the three-dimensional goals; the lack of quantitative, objective andefficient evaluation of the three-dimensional goals.In view of the problems on the cultivation of emotion, attitude and value, this thesismainly adopts the method of investigation, literature analysis, case study, together withpersonal teaching practice, and puts forward some countermeasures to solve these problems.The thesis consists of five parts. The first part is about the background and significance of theresearch on emotion, attitude and value education, the status quo of the research, and researchideas and methods. The second part is the analysis of connotations of emotion, attitude andvalue, their relationship, and the effect of emotion, attitude and value education on classroomteaching, personal development and even national development. The third part points out theexisting problems of emotion, attitude and value education, and analyzes the causes of theseproblems from the aspect of current social environment, educational philosophy, the quality ofteachers, and students’ involvement, etc. The fourth part elaborates on how to cultivatestudents’ emotion, attitude and value education in middle school politics teaching from theaspects of the teacher, students, and evaluation system. The last part is an instructional designabout " thinking method and innovation consciousness" used in normal teaching practice,which is to display the implementation of emotion, attitude, value education in middle schoolpolitics classroom teaching, hoping that it can shed a slight light on the improvement ofemotion, attitude, value education in politics teaching.
