Nowadays, with the rapidly development of globalization and informatization, newthoughts and values have led great changes to the Chinese modern society. People arebecoming more self-oriented and showing less respect to others, furthermore, with the help oftechnology, it makes the life easier than before. People are more intend to solve the problemsby themselves instead of asking for help, thus, further increase the gap between each otherand many issues have been raised in different fields. The conflicts between teachers andstudents in the field of education occurs frequently, owing to differences of their feelings,values, goals, etc, and then affects normal and effective education process. Theteacher-student relationship changed a lot as the people-oriented concept being highly raisedby the public. The new curriculum has proposed to build an equality, democracy, andharmonious teacher-student relationship up to the new trend of times. However, therelationship between teachers and students are becoming tenser and tenser through thein-depth study and survey, they complain each other not showing respecting, understanding orcaring. Therefore, the issues have been the critical factor in education system, and arousemore and more educators and even the whole society’s attention. As long as digging out themain causes of teacher-student conflicts, identifying effective strategies which can be activelyrespond to the problem, it is possible to create a harmonious and democratic atmosphere thatpromote education constantly progressing.This paper, aiming at the limitations in the present researchers, by adopting interviewsand questionnaires, analyzes the current situation of the conflicts between teachers andstudents in two different kinds of middle schools in Dalian, including what are the reasonslead to teacher-student conflicts in middle school English teaching, and look for the practicalways to promote the harmonious teacher-student relationship and ease the conflicts. Byanalyzing this topic, suggestions and improvements will be provided at the end of this report;as a result, guiding teachers, students, education administrators and even students’ parents toovercome the raised issues.
