The headmaster plays a very important role for the development of education and management of school, because the school quality of a school is closely related to the professional level. The rural area compulsory education quality is not good, but the city is still well. One of the important factors is that the headmaster’s professional level of rural area is not well. Therefore, to take effective measures is a significant role in promoting professional development of headmaster of rural primary and secondary schools.The study has taken methods of observation and interview to communicate rural primary and secondary school principals of the four different tenure and teachers, students, parents of students. A case study from different angles on the professional development of rural primary and secondary school principals, and proposes some suggestions to the existing problems.This study is divided into five parts.Chapter1:This part is mainly introduce the research of background, purpose and significance, the definition of core concepts, research methods, and summarized according to the related literature at home and abroad on the principal professional development research.Chapter2:This part is mainly introduce the lifelong education theory and the stage theory of principal professional development.Chapter3:This part is mainly introduce the professional content of rural primary and secondary school principals.Chapter4:The case study is mainly based on the growth background, professional philosophy, professional ability, professional knowledge, professional ethics and professional self-development consciousness to study and comparison the four principals.Chapter5:On the basis of the research, the study has some proposals to promote professional development of rural primary and secondary school principals from the funds, the system of principal management, professional training and autonomous learning and provide some reference for improving the professional level.
