With the popularization of “An Open Mandarin Textbook”, a number of oldtextbook from Republic of China gradually came into people’s vision, thereforepeople experience the charm of the old textbook then. This thesis selected the book“Reinvigorate Mandarin Textbook” belonging to the same period as “An OpenMandarin Textbook”, is the one of the most representative textbook of TheCommercial Press. As soon as the textbook be published, it has been reprinted manytimes. The book was very popular at that time, even during the war it was stillwidely used.In this thesis, the selected texts in the twelve volumes of “ReinvigorateMandarin Textbook” were chose as the research object. Through a comprehensivereading of the selected texts, I wanted to restore the original appearance of the oldtextbook and summarize the traits of the selected texts. As while as summarizing, Iwill discard the dross and select the essence as well to provide reference to modernlanguage teaching.This thesis is divided into five parts to study the selected texts of “ReinvigorateMandarin Textbook”.The first part is an introduction of giving the problem, the significance, researchmethods, definition of the core concept and analysis of relevant literatures.The second part is a overview of “Reinvigorate Mandarin Textbook”, showingthe style of the books in a macroscopic view, from both background and basic style.The background including the historical background and the writing basis for“Reinvigorate Mandarin Textbook”, and the basic style contains version informationand presentation about compilation style.The third part gives a deep study and research about the selected texts of“Reinvigorate Mandarin Textbook”, and shows a comprehensive analysis of thebook in four areas of the selected texts, the layout, style, content and language, inorder to restore the original style of the old teaching materials.The forth part is about classifying and summarizing the traits that the selected texts had in “Reinvigorate Mandarin Textbook”, then summed up the characteristicsof the selected texts at that time, while closely focusing on four areas of the selectedtexts, layout, style, content and language.The fifth part makes a summary and evaluation about the selected texts in“Reinvigorate Mandarin Textbook”, discusses the book’s reference to modernlanguage teaching, and emphasizes the importance of old textbook again.
