With developments of the times and progress of education reform, high levels of teachers will be required in modern education. Teachers who only play "teacher" role should not have been in line with the requirements of the times. Especially quality-oriented education requires that teachers not only pass knowledge but cultivate the overall abilities of their students. This demands teachers play a variety of roles, being good at using the power role when organizing educational activities. Teachers’power, this neglected issue must be of the utmost attention.This paper gives an overview of the research on the power of teachers. On the basis of the definition of the term and the action mechanism of it, the article offers a summary of the power of teachers, pointing out the misunderstandings of and its causes. Afterword, the article attempts to give advice to improve the power of teachers.This paper consists of four chapters.Chapter One indicates the reasons for improper usage of teachers’power and introduces the main research results of this theme. Then it determines the effective utilization of the power of teachers as the research field and detailed research methods.Chapter Two introduces the definition of the power of teachers. The study analyzes the action mechanism of it on the basis of the resources of the power of teachers and the factors influencing it.Chapter Three analyzes the misunderstandings of teacher authority operation by handing out questionnaires and making interviews to teachers and students. The research draws a conclusion that lack of teacher authority consciousness, one-sided view on this issue, misuse of the power of teachers, insufficient use of the power of teachers and lack of supervision and control over the power of teachers are the causes which lead to these misunderstandings.Chapter Four puts forward the basic methods of improving the effectiveness of the power of teachers, such as establishing the notions of modern education, properly carrying out the power of teachers, focusing on improving the utilization of the power, avoiding the overuse or underuse of the power and creating the better social and school environment for the power of teachers.
