Teachers for a New Era is a teacher education reforming initiative Launched by the Carnegie Corporation in2001.The initiative chose eleven university(incluing college)as site,through the reconstruct of teacher education which aim at bringing about radical changes in the way that teacher are prepared for their profession and prepared the highest quality teachers.Reflective ability as the characteristic of the highest teacher is the implied theme,the initiative has the idea of cultivating the teacher’s reflective ability as long as the initiative.The initiative is no direct pointed out the request of reflective ablity, but implicit in. The initiative construct the thorough capabilityStructure,Involved in cultivating teacher candidates’various ablity, include:basic ability professional ability and Core competencies. All ofthese ability have the elements of teacher’s reflective ability.in addition, the education mode such as general and liberal education also reflect the thought of cultivating teacher’s reflective ability.The initiative has the idea of cultivate the teacher’s reflective ability and construct the route of cultivating.Firstly,in the macroscopic view,base on the extrocontro route of preservice education and induction and the introcontrol route of someone practice-reflective is intersectd and added,both facilitated the forming and development of reflective ability.Secondly,in the microcosmic view had the specific and the targeted strategies and ways that facilitated the forming and development of reflective ability,such as research and inquiry activities, learning communities’activities,etc.In the process of cultivating teachers’reflective,the initiative accumulate many successful experience,such as strengthening cooperation forming Teacher training community, setting up teacher education curriculum reasonable,adopting many way cultivating teachers’ reflective ability,and so on.At the same time it also have problems,such as,among the teachers have the diffences and conflicts of concept, limit of time and money,etc.
