Objective: The university instructors have poor health and kinds of mental healthproblems due to their heavy teaching, scientific research tasks, work without timelimit and space boundary, and the pressure from family, life, job title promotion andcompetition. This research adopts the symptom self-assessment scale (SCL-90) andself-made questionnaire to study the mental health status and its influencing factors ofsome college instructors in a certain college. It aims at demonstrating the mentalhealth status and its distributing situation among the group of college instructors inorder to assure the chief factors which are influencing this type of person. It willprovide a scientific basis for making health interventions to the corresponding people,protect and the university instructors’ health and reduce the family and socialunnecessary loss.Methods: This study adopts the symptom self-assessment scale (SCL-90) toevaluate the instructors’ mental health status, applying the self-made investigation tofind out the main factors affecting the people’s mental health. The self-assessmentlists of symptom includes90questions, belonging to somatization, force symptom,interpersonal sensitivity, depression, anxiety, anxiety, hostility, terror and psychoticnine factors and the other. This rating scale for mental health problems is widelyapplied at home and abroad, has the high reliability and validity. Self-madequestionnaires are composed of demographic information, work stress, life stress,social pressure, nutrition, exercise and other factors.Results: The rate of dividing the total positive is16.0%of the instructors’ symptomself-assessment scale in a certain college in Jilin Province. The main psychologicalproblems are forced symptoms, somatization, paranoia, interpersonal tension anddepression successively. There is no significant difference between different gendersin dividing the total positive rate;<30years old age group and30to39years old agegroup are higher than the other two groups, the highest is in the30age group,≥50years old group is on the contrary and the trend is getting scarcer with age increasing;the positive rate of teaching assistant and lecturer is higher than other two groups, the teaching assistant is the highest and the professor is at the minimum. It demonstratesthe gradually decreased tendency with the increased title. The results of the singlefactor Logistic regression show that dividing the total rate of the self-assessment listsof symptom and work cannot be recognized, the overloaded work, stress from family,smoking, lacking of exercise and sleep less lead to the positively correlated of the sixfactors.Conclusions:The study shows that the incidence rate of dividing the total is16.0%among the898instructors of a college. The main existing psychological problems areforce, somatization and interpersonal tensions at the order from high to low. Thecollege instructors’ health level has no difference with the general population in Jilinprovince, while forcing and somatization score are higher than the norm and terrorscore is lower than the norm. The incidence of women instructors’ psychologicalproblems is slightly higher than that of male ones, but there is no statisticallysignificant difference. The incidence of psychological problems is becoming higherwith the loss of the title in a certain college. The teaching assistant has the highestincidence, and the professor is at a minimum. The incidence of psychologicalproblems presents the reducing trend with the increasing of age. Incidence of younginstructors’ psychological problems is higher than the middle-aged and old. Factorsaffecting the psychological health of college instructors are mainly including: hardwork without recognition, work overload, family stress, smoking and lack of exercise,and sleep less which present the positively correlated...
