| The mental health status of college students is not only related to their own growth, but also related to the future of our nation. The purpose of this study is to develop a mental health bilingual scale for Tibetan college students. The college students(N=214) and teacher(N=30) of Tibet University were investigated to do the open-ended questionnaires, to find out the mental health status of Tibetan college students and explore the structure of the scale. Combined with the existing college students’ mental health standard and the domestic and international related scale, the initial questionnaire was developed. By using the method of stratified random sampling and the initial questionnaire, 408 college students ranged from grade 1 to 4 from Tibet University were investigated and randomly 62 students were selected to have a retest after two weeks. Through the test of item analysis, factor analysis, reliability and validity test, we finally achieved the Tibetan and Chinese bilingual mental health scale of the Tibetan college student. Using T-CBMHS, we investigated 2433 college students from Tibetan universities(Tibet University, Agricultural and Animal Husbandry College of Tibet University, Tibet Medical College, Lhasa Teachers College, Tibet Vocational Technical College, Tibet Police College) to establish the norm of T-CBMHS. The results are as follows:(1) College students’ mental health is a harmonious state of adaptation, perception, learning and other aspects inside and outside themselves. T-CBMHS includes nine dimensions, such as adaptation, cognitive, learning, emotion, personality, communication, love, consumption and career, totally 80 items.(2) The correlation coefficient between each item and total scale is between 0.352-0.617, which is significantly related and indicates that the scale has good discriminability. T-CBMHS total scale’s internal consistency coefficient(Cronbach’s alpha coefficient) is 0.952, the internal consistency of each dimension is between 0.681-0.828, and the retested reliability is between 0.503-0.773, which has reached a significant level and indicates that the scale has a good reliability. The scale’s correlation coefficient between each dimension and the total scale is between 0.710-0.854, which is significantly related, the correlation between each dimension is not high(the correlation coefficient is between 0.400-0.682) and is lower than the correlation between each dimension and the total score, and the fitting index of each dimension is ideal, which indicate that the scale has good content validity and construct validity. The correlation coefficient between T-CBMHS and SCL-90 shows that the scale has good criterion-related validity.(3) Taking gender, nation, grade as the main characteristic variables, we use the multi factor analysis of variance to analyse the T-CBMHS’ total score and each dimension. And then, according to the result, the original coarse norms are established, namely the general norm, the national norm, the grade norm and different grade’s sexual and national norm. The general original coarse norm of the scale is divided into general standard norm, and then the assessment standard of T-CBMHS is developed. The results of the study show that, Tibetan and Chinese bilingue mental health scale of the Tibetan college student(T-CBMHS) has good reliability and validity. It can be used for the detection of Tibetan and Chinese college students’ mental health level in Tibet. Norm standard provides a reference for the popularization and application of the scale. It’s a reference to early discovery, timely intervention and follow-up service of Tibetan college students’ mental health. Moreover, it’s helpful to improve the scientificalness and effectiveness of Tibetan college students’ s mental health educational work. |
