Problem-based learning is a teaching method aiming to develop the learner’s learning ability, which also helps to transform the traditional teaching method that teachers only focus on teaching and students are just passive learners to a new one that teaching is based on typical problems and students acquire knowledge through self-research. Problem-based learning puts its emphasis on students’ becoming positive learners and advocates teaching on the basis of discussion teaching and heuristic education, in order to improve students’ full ranges of learning ability and develop their consciousness of lifelong learning. The thesis is about the theories of problem-based learning, which is guided by new philosophies and theories of education and by the method of problem-based learning. It is also combined with the real practice of Chemistry teaching in the Senior High and comes up with some teaching strategies of the problem-based learning in Chemistry teaching. The research is performed on the students in experimental classes, aiming to explore a new approach of Chemistry teaching in the Senior High. The thesis, of course, helps to strengthen the learners’ interest in learning, develop their self-study ability, train their elaborative ability and improve their cooperative ability. The research shows that the problem-based learning can stimulate students’ interest and desire in study, train their elaborative and summarizing ability and develop their communicative and cooperative ability, and as a result, improve the learners’learning ability as well as grades in their study.
