Unity teaching has dominated the mainstream practice in the handsoldering skills teaching, but it shows more and more limitations in the teaching ofelectricity specialty. Unity teaching does no good to teaching students in accordancewith their aptitude, the students’ personality development and the formation of theiroccupational quality, especially in the teaching of hand soldering skills. This paperclassifies Selective Learning theory and gives a detailed description of SelectiveLearning research carried out in the hand soldering skills teaching in DongguanNancheng Vocational School. It analyzes the problems existing in the hand solderingskills teaching and the reason for carrying out the Selective Learning research. It putforwards the detailed steps for the implementation of Selective Learning and analyzesits effectiveness. The research plays practical role in achieving the teaching goals andimproving hand soldering skills teaching quality in secondary vocational schools and itprovides us with helpful references. The paper is divided into four sections:Chapter one provides the background, direction, contents, significance andmethodology of the research. it summarizes some previous researches about SelectiveLearning and defines the conceptions of Selective Learning and hand soldering.Chapter Two elaborates the characteristics, purpose of selective learning andintroduces the theoretical bases of selective learning which consist of humanismlearning theory, constructivism theory, and multiple intelligences theory.Chapter Three analyzes the current situation in hand soldering teaching andprovides bases for the implementation of selective learning. It expounds concretely theimplementation of selective learning in the hand soldering skills teaching from fouraspects: selection dimension, project planning, teaching pattern and evaluation system.Chapter Four analyzes the effectiveness from four aspects: the academicperformance, the hierarchical differential teaching, the achievement motive and thestudents’ special selling point.Chapter five explores the problems of the research.
