Nowadays, education reform has become a general trend which can not be halted, countries of the world, including China, have introduced the history curriculum standards. In order to improve the junior high school history curriculum standards, they not only based on their national conditions, but also widen the international vision, learn merits from each other and improve for shortcomings by comparison.As one of the "Four Asian Tigers", Singapore, its complex social and cultural backgrounds create a distinctive and high-profile education reform. In view of this, this thesis selects the junior high school history curriculum standards of China and Singapore as the blueprint for a comparative study.It will make a systematic comparative study from functional orientation, goal setting, content selection and implementation strategy four parts of history curriculum, each part separately interprets the contents " Compulsory Education History Curriculum Standard of China "and " Lower Secondary History Syllabus of Singapore", then based on the comparison of similarities and differences between two curriculum standards, points out some new opinions and further puts forward questions for thinking after comprehensive analysis.The first part introduction, introduces the topic origin, domestic and foreign research status, research methods, the research innovations and deficiencies concisely and to the point. The second part makes comparisons based on introducing the function orientation’s characteristics of junior high school history curriculum in two countries. Both countries regard history as the important basic subject, weaken professional and enhance value education, but China focuses on the cultivation of humanistic literacy, Singapore focuses on the diversification and cultivate practical accomplishment. The third part makes a comparison of curriculum goal setting and summarizes the similarities and differences. Both countries take the knowledge, skills and emotional field into account, and pay attention to take the student as the main body, but the goal is set differently by two countries with their respective education idea, the target level is also different. The fourth part starts from the selection of curriculum content, introduces separately the two junior middle school history curriculum content selections and history of China and Singapore, then makes a comparison. In the content selection, both countries have a certain study method instruction for the content as well as knowledge content. But China’s content scope is wider than Singapore’s. The former is world history while the latter is the regional history only. Finally, offers three proposals:first, strengthen the practical function of junior middle school history curriculum; second, improve the content of the standard system; third, promote the effective implementation of teaching the students in accordance with their aptitude.
