The late Qing dynasty is another spirit period in the Chinese translation history. In this period, a large number of education novels’translation embodied the "education" and "novel", the combination of the traditional thoughts and a new idea of education. The late Qing dynasty is the starting period of Chinese modern education, and also the withdrawal period of the traditional education. Translators selected the proper themes and ideas and mixed, for the people to accept. The western educational thoughts were introduced into China with the educational novels’ translation, which has important significance in the "transition" period of Chinese education. The juvenile growing and school life were the theme of these education novels’ translation, It echoed the "education enlightenment","novel enlightenment" and the social demand of new education. They not only provided a specific example for adolescents’ learning, also provided vivid, specific ideal model for new educational establishment. And they had made distinctions in teaching children, wisdom people and disseminating the new educational ides, which cannot be underestimated. Therefore, this topic of the late Qing dynasty education novel translation is worth us to study. The thesis is divided into three parts:The first part is the introduction. It introduced the main reasons of the topics, the purpose and significance of the study, then summarized the research situation, and explained the research methods, the innovation and the shortage.The second part is the main body of the study, form the second chapter to the fourth chapter. The second chapter analyzed the basic premise of the novels’translation in late Qing, and redefining the concept of education novel, then classificated and sorted them. The third chapter studied the translating background, the translation situation, and the translating characteristics of education novels in the late Qing dynasty, from the macroscopic angle. The fourth chapter analyzed education novels’new education ideas, dissemination and influence, proceeding with the education novels’thematic and content.The third part is the conclusion. On the basis of the first two parts, it discussed the role in promoting the development of Education and Education History study.
