As a rising multidimensional social indicators system in recent years, subjectivewell-being not only can be used to assess and predict social phenomena, but also is acomprehensive reflect of life experience for individual status. The SWB model is dividedinto cognitive well-being model and psychology well-being model. Using a Likert five-pointscale, we can use the integrated sharing as the happiness index to quantify SWB.The researcher divided occupations into11categories from an occupational perspective.Through the survey based on575urban residents in Hubei Province, the researcher foundthat the various occupational subjective well-being of urban residents had significantdifferences. Their happiness index ranked as followed: soldiers and police, migrant workers,leading cadres of administrative institutions, professional and technical personnel, businessmanagers or department heads and senior managers, private entrepreneurs, general corporatemanagers, the general staff of the administrative institutions, marketing and service officers,laid-off and unemployed, self-employed and freelance. From the internal perspective ofoccupation, residents in management positions had a higher level of SWB than those whowere managed in the same system.The conclusions resulted from specific analysis of interal situation of SWB for eachoccupation are as follows:1. Life satisfaction subscale scores were higher than emotional experience subscalescores for all types of occupation.2. Overall, male’s SWB was slightly higher than female’s. However, it is the opposite inthe leading cadres of administrative institutions, the general staff of the admini strativeinstitutions, professional and technical personnel, marketing and service personnel and laidoff unemployed.3. Overall, annual household income is positively correlated with subjective well-being.However, this conclusion applied only to the leading cadres of the administrative institutions,business managers or department heads and senior managers and private entrepreneurs inpecific analyse of various types of occupation.4. Overall, education level is positively correlated with subjective well-being. However,the conclusion applies only to the general staff of the administrative institutions.5. Unexpected high level of special groups: migrant worker.
