Ethnic social work is an important part of China’s social work professionalizationand localization. In this text, the author describes and analyzes the casework about aUygur student Akim, make a reflection on the desirable and inadequacies in practicework, explore how to carry out ethnic social work practice, to enrich ethnic socialwork theory and apply them on the solutions to general problems, provides experienceto the research and development of ethnic social work, to provide guidance andreference for future ethnic social work promotion and practice.The text is divided into several parts:The introduction part mainly point out that developing ethnic social work is animportant of social work professionalization and localization, is the inevitable choiceto adapt China’s national conditions and social work career development. And brieflydescribes the research status, the significance of research, and research method etc.In the first chapter, the author discusses the definition of the concept of ethnicsocial work, attempts to explore the value, theory and methods of ethnic social work,thus providing a theoretical basis for the ethnic social work.In the second chapter, the author introduces unique culture of the Uighur and Islam,as well as all sorts of problems in the stage of high education, which due to thecultural background, habits and religious differences.In the third chapter, the author details the casework process of how the author whounder the guidance of the concept of social work, using professional theory includinggrief counseling and social support theory, and social work skills to help the clientAkim solve problems and enhance his personal ability.The fourth chapter, the author combined the casework, pointed out that the socialwork for nationalities finding the problems and shortcomings, and prospected how tocultivate the talents of national social workers combining with colleges anduniversities social work resources.
