| Ethnic identity is an important content of ethnic studies. It is not only animportant measurement of ethnic relations but also a dynamic process whichcontains cognition, emotion, and behavior. Currently political, economic, andcultural patterns are changing, therefore the interaction between ethnic groups ismore frequent, and the ethnic identity is endowed with a new connotation. Moreover,the attention of research field about ethnic identity is also increasing daily.The scattered distribution pattern of Chinese ethnic groups, as the result ofsocial development and the trend of population distribution, also determines theimportance of ethnic issues in the whole ethnic study. She nationality, one ofChinese diasporas nationalities, mainly lives in the southeast of China such as Fujian,Zhejiang, Anhui, Jiangxi, and Guangdong province. This paper selects Shenationality in Jin Zhu Township, Fuzhou City, Jiangxi province as a case study inorder to let us rethink the developing and changing process of ethnic theories andconcepts from the theoretical level, and also provide useful experience fordeveloping minority areas and constructing a harmonious society from the realisticlevel.This paper can be divided into five parts.The first part is the introduction part. It introduces the selected reason andresearch significance of the topic, and combs the studies done by scholars at homeand abroad on definitions of ethnic groups, ethnic identity, issues of Diasporasnationality, She research summary, and some research methods.The second part introduces the situation of She township of Jinzhu, clansources and migratory history of She people, and its traditional culture. Fromeconomic life, living custom, totem beliefs, marriage, funeral and dressing style,author describes the traditional culture of Jinzhu in order to prepare a furtherdiscussion.The third part is an analysis of ethnic identity changes in Jinzhu. The wholechanges can be divided into three periods as following: days before the founding ofthe PRC, days from early years of the PRC to the times before the foundationof NationalityTownship, and the days after the foundation of Nationality Township. These changes can reflect local ethnic identity changes and influencing factors in theprocess of social development.The fourth part is the phenomenon analysis of She ethnic identity under thebackground of social development. It is cogitation about ethnic identity changes ofdiasporas nationality, gambling between elite consciousness and group identificationduring the process of ethnic identity transformation, ethnic identity changes in theprocess of social development, and the influence and effect of constructivism in theprocess of establishing Jinzhu township.The fifth part is the conclusion part. Basing on these four parts discussed above,author explores the changes of Chinese ethnic consciousness in modern condition byobserving the process of constructing culture and identity in minority areas. |
