The Core Confucianism is the most representative inheritance of the excellenttraditional Chinese culture cultivated in the long history of China over five thousandyears. A highlight of Chinese values in philosophy, science and humanism serving as themomentum for social development, the Core Confucianism provides the most abundantresources of spirit, education and culture in the growth of Chinese people over the agesand thus constitutes the most splendid treasure house of ideas and values for everyChinese. Besides abundant teaching resources and effective teaching methods, the CoreConfucianism also provides powerful support for the realization of goals and theestablishment of framework in political and ideological education today.Currently, favorable atmosphere and permanent momentum have been created forcolleges to implement political and ideological education via Core Confucianism. Thepursuit of resources from traditional Chinese culture and the reinforcement of theeducation of Core Confucianism have become effective measures in the innovation ofpolitical and ideological education in colleges as well as the optimum access to theeducation herein for college students, which are further justified by the guidelinespromulgated by the National Program for Medium-and-Long Term EducationDevelopment (2010-2020) and by the Sixth Plenary Session of the Seventeenth CPCNational Congress, namely “to reinforce the education of excellent traditional Chineseculture and revolution traditions” and “to vigorously facilitate culture communication,excellent traditional culture and advanced culture”, and the advocates of “strengtheningsocialist culture construction with spectacular cultural development and prosperity.With the foundations on the theories and methodologies concerning political andideological education, this thesis focuses on the research of key approaches to strengthening the education of Core Confucianism to college students in the new era viaa series of research methods concerning disciplinary research, psychology analysis anddocumentation. The discipline of political and ideological education, with a keen concernon the rules that regulate the formation, change and development of ideas, providesguidelines for this research in the analysis of objective and subjective causes of theindifference to humanitarian consciousness among part of college students and thus helpsfind the access to the research on reinforcing Core Confucianism in the new era.Meanwhile, the application of documentation approach in the research, with inductionand conclusion gained via research, comparison and selection of data collected from allachievements including articles, document and monographs in the field at home andabroad, helps establish solid theoretical foundations for further research of the thesis.According to investigation and research, there have been deviations on the values ofpeople due to the shrinking concern on traditional culture, the long-term ignorance ofhumanistic education and the constant introduction of foreign ideas and values, whicheventually lead to remarkable absence of Core Confucianism in the ideas and values ofcollege students: the increasingly severer absence of moral ethics and integrity, theprevailing restlessness and distorted life values and lack of a scientific recognition of thevalues embedded in Core Confucianism. In view of the situation mentionedhereinabove, this thesis, with an in-depth analysis on the intrinsic value of CoreConfucianism and a full consideration of the state quo of the political and ideologicaleducation on college students, proposes a series of strategies for the realization of thevalue of Core Confucianism herein, namely creating a social environment featuring CoreConfucianism, emphasizing the role of favorable family atmosphere in the reinforcementof Core Confucianism, vigorously facilitating the education of Core Confucianism incollege and giving a full play to the independent role of college students in the educationof Core Confucianism.
