In the contemporary society, with the development of economy, people’s life styleand ideas have changed greatly. The social cultur and thought is becoming diversifiedincreasingly. These changes have brought profound influence to the contemporarycollege students’ growth. Make them show new characteristic. On the one hand, thecontemporary college students’ subjective consciousness and independence haveenhanced, thinking more active; on the other hand, the negative effects of marketeconomy and the diverse social ideological impact the college students, who’s values hasnot been completely established, make part of the college students’ understanding ofsocial mainstream values of the fuzzy, personal interests above everything else, sense ofresponsibility for others, state and social indifference.Social responsibility is the basic quality requirements of the person’s behavior andthe core of the social moral construction. College students as the backbone of the futuresociety construction, it should be a highly social sense of responsibility. Obviously, thereare lots of problems of contemporary college students’ social responsibility, can besummarized as the following respects: self responsibility consciousness is stronger, but alack of self-discipline consciousness; to others and collective, the utilitarian mindenhancement; overall strong sense of family responsibility, but there is mixedphenomenon; national consciousness is indifference, to personal interest. The lack ofcollege students’ social responsibility must cause our attention. On the one hand, thedevelopment of the society has put the problem of citizen’s social responsibility before us.The development of market economy, democratic political construction,the developmentof network society,the building of a harmonious society requires citizens must have astrong sense of social responsibility. On the other hand, to strengthen college students’social responsibility education is the inherent requirement of college students’ healthygrowth and all-round development. The main cause of contemporary college studentssocial responsibility problems including the effect of social environment, the insufficientof school education, misunderstanding of family education and factors of collegestudents themselves.Through the analysis of the causes of problems on college students’ socialresponsibility, combineing the characteristics of the contemporary college students, thereare four aspects to cultivate their sense of social responsibility. First of all, pay attention to moral education in colleges and universities. Moral education can provide strongguarantee for college students’ social responsibility education. Secondly, enriching thecontent of college students’ social responsibility education. Third, optimize the socialenvironment, campus environment and family environment. Finally, to strengthencollege students’ social practice, broaden college students’ social responsibility education.
