Educational equity is the foundation of social justice, and it is also the most tenaciousweapon to narrow the gap between the rich and the poor. English teaching is an important partof education, because English is one of the world’s main international languages. In recentyears, China indeed has undergone earth-shaking changes. However, it’s no doubt that we stilllag behind the advanced countries in the west in many technologies. If we want to develop orprogress and grasp all kinds of technologies in a relatively short time, we can not just doresearches on our own. We must learn some advanced technologies from the developedcountries. And the necessary premise of learning is to master the general technicalcommunication language–English. However, in the countryside, although English teachinghas gained widely attention and the teaching quantities have been increased, compared withEnglish teaching in the city, there is still a certain gap. Therefore, it’s urgent for us to analyzethe current situation of the rural English education inequity and reasons, and put forwardcountermeasures to solve this unfair situation. It helps our country to implement the strategiesto rejuvenate the country through science and education and to enhance the comprehensivenational strength.This thesis is based on the China’s contemporary reality to study Chinese current Englisheducational equity, aiming at revealing the unfair phenomenon of English education andputting forward some countermeasures to promote fair education in the rural areas. This thesistakes Kaixian Jiulong Mountain Junior Middle School and Kaixian Hanfeng Middle School asexamples, questionnaire and interview are used to collect the data and analyze the results.Results show that compared with the city, there indeed exist many unfair phenomenon incurrent English education in the rural areas of our country, such as lacking of qualifiedteachers, student basis and poor teaching facilities. We need to give attention to the ruralEnglish education, and puts forward some effective measures to solve this problem.
