At present there are many problems to be solved in the teaching of high schoolgeography teaching design in our country, the traditional design is unable to stimulatethe students’ enthusiasm for learning geography, too much emphasis on theinculcation of knowledge. SOLO classification theory evaluation as a qualitativestandard, it is as the main characteristics of the class described,in the late nineteenninties, SOLO classification theory has been widely concern to people and began tobe used in the actual teaching. The study confirmed that SOLO classification theorycan successfully is widely used in many disciplines. The high school stage is a keyperiod in the development of students’ life, the development of physical and mental istransiting to mature, the guidance of instructional design theory of SOLOclassification is catering to the characteristics of high school students.So this paperfocuses on the SOLO classification theory in high school geography teaching designin the specific application value and the application strategy.At first, This article makes a systematic analysis on the superiority of the SOLOclassification theory in high school geography teaching design, and puts forward somestrategies for the application of SOLO classification theory of high school geographyteaching, the whole process of design is based on five levels of instruction SOLOclassification theory, improve high school geography teaching quality target. Finally,to the contrast experimental study proved the feasibility of SOLO classification theoryin high school geography teaching design, through the experimental data can be seen,SOLO classification theory guiding the design of high school geography teaching notonly stimulated the enthusiasm of students, but also to enhance the students’Geography thinking level.Through the research we can see, the guidance of instructional design under thetheory of SOLO classification can not only stimulate the vitality of geographyteaching in the classroom, but also can fully mobilize the enthusiasm and initiative ofstudents learn geography. Therefore, SOLO classification theory has very importantsignificance in high school geography teaching design.
