Positive affectivity originated from affectivity dimension theory. At the end of the20th century, with the rise of positive psychology, the studies of positive affectivity were taken seriously and then was formally proposed and applied. American psychologist Seligman, an advocate of positive psychology, points out that positive affectivity are the core content of positive psychology research. Positive affectivity is one psychological state of the basic moral standards which can stimulate and adjust the individual to generate an active reaction in the process of seeking something to satisfy self, including concretely:love, gratitude, interest, self-confidence, joy and hope, teasing, respect, encouragement and so on.College students’ ideological and political education is a kind of education which goes deep into human’s mind. It serves college students’ morals, affectivity and attitude because it aims to help foster in the young the morally sound values and outlook on the world and life. As one kind of practical activity, it follows principles of all human practical activities and hence should be established on the basis of college students’psychological activities. At the same time, positive psychological state can effectively arouse the enthusiasm of students and consequently, it can enhance education’ s effectiveness; positive affectivity in positive psychological states is conducive to the deepening of education and can achieve the goal of education. Therefore, in order to execute the innovation in ideological and political education of college students, research on it should be combined with research on positive affectivity.Positive affectivity play an important role in the ideological and political education of college students and has the extremely profound significance. Deepening positive affectivity cognition and understanding is the premise and foundation to develop and use positive affectivity, therefore, it is necessary for us to define the relevant concepts of positive affectivity, including affectivity’s definition, composition, function and the concept, category and function of positive emotions. Based on positive affectivity analysis of the connotation, characteristic and performance in college students’ ideological and political education, firstly we should elaborate positive affectivity of college students’ ideological and political education and then discuss what significance positive affectivity have for college students in the ideological and political education; there are significance of positive affectivity for educational subjects, significance for educational environment, significance for educational practice. The purpose of the study and application of positive affectivity is to take effective measures to arouse and cultivate students’positive affectivity and improve college students’ ideological and political education actual effect, such as raising ideological consciousness, putting emphasis on positive affectivity and its cultivation; strengthening the team construction, making educators play a major role; paying attention to self-adjustment, arousing college students’positive initiative; improving the educational environment, building positive affectivity atmosphere; improving the educational methods and contents, promoting the positive affectivity cultivation and so on.
