With the rapid development of science and technology, we have entered the information age, and meanwhile, various types of information are increasing exponentially, thereby bringing to an information explosion and information overload problem. Faced with such a huge amount of information, we are able to enhance our information capabilities on identification and application with information literacy education. With the research and practice on information literacy education at home and abroad, considerable progress has been made on the concept, content and form of information literacy education.In this paper, on the basis of collation, review and analysis of the existing literature, it discussed the related concepts of information literacy and information literacy education, it elaborated the information literacy education situation of domestic and foreign university students, and summarized the factors which restrained the information literacy education in our country, through the analysis of specific cases of the United States and Australia, it discussed the major mode of cooperation in current foreign information literacy education, and proposed some revelations for Chinese information literacy education.Based on the successful cooperation experience of information literacy education from abroad, started from the elements of the education system, this paper is processed by some means, such as taking the survey, taking the in-site inquiry and etc., and also this paper obtained the results of the necessity to establish information literacy education in cooperation model through analyzing and summarizing, and then given the ideal cooperation mode for information literacy education of university level in our country. In the horizontal cooperation model, the university libraries are the main commitment body to realize the cooperation between librarians and teachers, libraries and government, libraries and enterprises. In the vertical cooperation mode which is based on the lifelong learning theory, the cooperation between primary and secondary school and university libraries had been studied, and various modalities of cooperation for information literacy education had also been discussed in order to achieve the purpose of lifelong education.
